Getting here

• By air. Tuzla's airport (TZL) is about 13 to 16 km from the city. Wizz Air flies here. On 7 October 2026 the airport's flight board showed flights to Berlin, Göteborg, Memmingen, Basel-Mulhouse, Maastricht, Cologne and Frankfurt-Hahn. Routes change, and no 2027 summer schedule has been announced, so check with the airline before you book.
• From Sarajevo. By private transfer: about 2 hours 10 minutes, from 27 USD a person. By bus: 3 to 3.5 hours, about 23 to 39 KM. These are estimates from travel sites, without a date.
• From Belgrade, Zagreb or Osijek. By bus, about 4 to 5.5 hours, often with a change. Estimates from travel sites, not dated.
• From the airport to town. A private transfer costs 25 EUR for a car, about 12 minutes. We don't yet know whether a public bus runs from the airport.

Staying

• Hotels. On 7 October 2026, a hotel search site showed central hotels at about 62 to 112 GBP a night. Prices change every day. A 2026 travel guide says mid-range hotels cost 40 to 65 EUR.
• Where to book. Booking sites list about 457 places to stay in Tuzla (7 October 2026). The tourist board lists 18 hotels, motels and guest houses, and about 36 rooms and apartments, without prices.
• A hotel block. We are still waiting to hear whether IPI Academy can offer a block of rooms. If it can, we'll point you there first.

Money

• Currency. The convertible mark (KM) is fixed to the euro: 1 EUR is 1.95583 KM.
• Prices. A simple meal is about 9 KM (4.60 EUR), a cappuccino 3.25 KM (1.66 EUR) and a local bus ticket 2.50 KM (Numbeo, 2 October 2026).
• The lakes. An adult ticket in summer 2026 was 7 KM (3.60 EUR) on weekdays and 9 KM (4.60 EUR) at weekends.
• Cash and cards. The airport has ATMs and an exchange office. How widely cards are taken in cafés and at the lakes is not yet known, so carry some cash.

Phones and papers

• Phones. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not in the EU roaming area. EU phone plans may charge extra here. A local SIM or eSIM avoids that. In June 2026 the EU agreed to start talks on bringing the Western Balkans into its roaming area. Nothing is in place yet.
• Visas. EU, UK and US citizens need no visa for up to 90 days in a six-month period. Check your own country's rules before you travel.
• Police registration. Foreign visitors must register with the police within 72 hours. Hotels usually do this for their guests.
• Health. The European and UK health insurance cards (EHIC, GHIC) do not work here. Get travel insurance.

June

• Weather. June is Tuzla's wettest month. The lake day has a rain plan: the cafés in Slana banja park, next door to the lakes.
• The lakes. Whether the salt lakes are open for swimming in early June 2027 is not yet known. The lake day works without swimming.
